Of Somerville and Reading, passed peacefully on October 11, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Anne L. (Kelleher). Devoted father of Jeanne McHugh, and her husband John of Weymouth, Stephen O'Leary, and his wife Mary Ann of Reading, James R. O'Leary Jr., of Wilmington, Lynne O'Leary of Reading, and Ted O'Leary and his wife Tina of Lunenburg. Loving ‘Papa’ of Stephen, Michael and Alison O'Leary, and Andrew O'Leary. Dear brother of Marie MacSweeney of Medford, and the late Edward, Timothy, Francis, William, Dorothy and Irene. Late WWII Army Veteran. Retired Lieutenant, Somerville Police Department. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Massachusetts Ave., Tuesday, October 16th, at 10:30 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church, 2254 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with his family prior from 9 –10:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial and Military Honors at Cambridge Cemetery. It has been requested that memorial contributions be made in Jim's name to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018, or Matignon High School, Advancement Office, One Matignon Road, Cambridge, MA 02140.
