LAVEY, Gemma A. (Del Ponte) 96 years young of Somerville. Passed away on June 6th, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Lavey for 59 years. Cherished mother of Rita P. and her husband Edward Buck of Somerville. Dear grandmother of Cheryl and her husband Mark Thompson and great-grandmother to Abby and James Thompson, all of Coventry, England. Loving sister to Marie DiSalvo and her husband Carl and the late Ferdinand and Joseph Del Ponte, Gilda Cecchini, and Olga Beninati. Sister in law of Claire Del Ponte. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and so many special friends. Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Mass Ave, NORTH CAMBRIDGE on Saturday June 9th, at 10 am. Funeral mass in Saint John's Church, Cambridge at 11 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Friday June 8th from 5-8 pm. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gemma's name may be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Ave, Somerville or The National Shrine of Saint Jude, 205 West Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606.
